Why not, right?

I only have to feed myself now, which is slightly depresso to grocery shop for one person, especially since I'm a non-perishable food-hoarder, thanks to growing up really, really poor and sometimes not having food in the house.  AND I have difficulty turning down a sale, since it's on sale!!  But, I only buy things on sale that I'd actually use, so I'm not like hoarding things unnecessarily.  I just always have this fear in my head that I'll starve to death if I don't stock up on non-perishable food items when I can afford to.  Given my childhood of not always having food, and the stint of time before I was employed at the PD's office when Hat (since I'm referring to a time in which he wasn't out of my life, I will call him Hat) and I were so poor that we could only afford to eat Ramen most days and sometimes that was too expensive and I hadn't had a vegetable in so long that I broke down crying, and my most recent problems with being able to afford things, including food, I'm always going to be somewhat of a food-hoarder, I suppose.  So, in my most recent trip to the grocery store, I went a little insane.  This was an actual photo of my grocery cart:

ut

I know, I know.  Insane, right?  But most of it is freezable or canned, so I can actually eat it later on, so it won't go to waste.  It's just a bit ridiculous when you figure that I'm shopping for ONE PERSON.  Oops.

But, on that vein, I decided that since I only have to prepare food for myself and I can eat whatever I want (I'm starting to sound like a weird version of "Nothing Compares 2 U" as sung by Sinead O'Connor...), I decided to join Weight Watchers.  What can I say, the 2 Jennifer Hudsons commercial was too captivating to pass up on it.  So, I signed up yesterday (after I ate breakfast...whoops!) and I'm on Day 2 of it.  This is my second go-around with WW.  The first time around was okay, but I gave up because it was hard for Hat to figure out things that we both could eat and after awhile, I couldn't afford it anymore.  So, I had to call it quits.

This time, I'm more encouraged that I might have success.  In my prior run with it, fruit was worth a crapload of points, so like 1 banana would suck up 1/3 of my daily points.  But I love fruit!  And basically all the veggies I liked were also major point-suckers.  So, that sucked.  However, they've retooled their formulas and now basically all fruits and veggies are zero points, which is awesome, because now I can happily eat like 14 Honeycrisp apples in one day.  Seriously, have you ever eaten one of those?? They are like crack.

Also, when you worked out, you'd get like, at most, 3 extra points.  For real?? I'd bust my butt on weights with my personal trainer until I could barely walk and I'd get 1/2 an apple in points??  That seemed janky.  But, they've also retooled that aspect of it, too, so now an hour of hip-hop dancing is worth 16 points!!  16 points?!  That's like 1/2 a day's worth!  So, I just bust out the "Just Dance" on the Wii for an hour, try not to fling the Wiimote into the TV as I'm flailing around miserably and trying to dance and then I get 16 points.  Awesome.

So, I'm hopeful that maybe I can lose some weight.  After my car accident last year, I gained some weight--you know, oddly enough, sitting on your butt for the majority of time during a 6 month time span because even just breathing deeply hurt so much you almost cried, you will end up gaining some weight.  Especially if you're me and have a thyroid condition to begin with.  Which has resulted in me needing to lose some weight, just to get back to where I was pre-car-accident.

I figured now is the perfect time to do it.  I'm in the middle of trying to figure out what my new-post-YKW-life is going to be like and I'm realizing how crippling living with a chef for the last 5 years has left me in the kitchen area, so I gotta learn how to cook at some point in time.  Might as well learn how to do it in a healthy way.  And might as well try to lose some weight while I'm at it.  And I can shake it around my living room a few nights each week--even I can do that, despite how terribly lazy I can be.

So, fingers crossed, I'll be able to make this work and lose some weight.  That way, the next time I have to see YKW, for bills or cleaning up the apartment when the lease is up, etc., I can look even hotter than I already am and I can laugh in his face when he sees how ultra-svelte I am.  YES.

The only drawback to this whole WW thing is that I'm hungry most of the time.  Stupid exercise and lowered caloric intake...bleh...

That's a terrific-looking grocery cart full of food. Makes me happy just thinking about it... and reminds me of one of my favorite pictures:
